Develop A Podcast With SOUNDYARD

Are you ready to dive into the exciting world of podcasting or want to take your existing show to new heights? Join us for an immersive 3-hour workshop designed for both beginners and seasoned podcasters who want to refine their craft.

This workshop takes place at SOUNDYARD - a brand new audio and podcasting studio in Norwich. Expect an inspiring and comfortable environment, industry-standard equipment, and a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.

Hosted and led by audio producers/presenters Sophie Little and Anna Perrott, with a combined 30 years experience in broadcasting and audio making.

You will learn:

Podcast Formats: Explore the diverse world of podcast formats and figure out what will work best for you and your audience.

Content Creation: Learn how to craft compelling content that captivates your listeners. Discover the key elements that transform your ideas into engaging episodes.

Storytelling Mastery: Elevate your content with compelling storytelling. You'll learn techniques to keep your audience hooked from the first word to the final fade-out.

Recording Techniques: From microphone etiquette to creating a studio-like atmosphere, understand the nuances of recording that contribute to professional-quality podcasts.

Introduction to Editing: Demystify the world of audio editing. Learn the basics of editing software, tips for seamless edits, and how to enhance your audio for a polished final product.

Publishing & Growth Strategies: Navigate the publishing process with ease. Get to grips with podcast platforms, and explore strategies for growing and retaining your audience.

SOUNDCHECK is a monthly zoom group for podcasters and audio makers who want to chat through ideas, troubleshoot and keep themselves accountable on their sound adventures. This is a great way to keep up momentum after this workshop.

Editing Audio
A workshop for beginners

In this two hour workshop you will explore the basic principles of audio editing using a free to download software called Audacity.

Led by Sophie Little and Anna Perrott, both seasoned producers/presenters with decades of audio industry experience.

You will:

  • Become familiar with the software, and how audio looks when it’s displayed as a waveform

  • Learn how to manipulate those waveforms to create what you want to hear, including splitting, trimming, cutting & pasting, crossfading, amplifying and reducing

  • Understand the principles of multi-track editing and layering of audio

  • Have a go at a creative project that incorporates those learned skills

Participant Requirements:

Participants should have some basic computer literacy skills, but no prior experience with audio editing software is required. 

** Participants will need to bring their own laptops **

Prior to the workshop, we ask that you download Audacity - which is available here for free. We encourage you to do this before attending the workshop to make the most of our time together, but we can also help with this on the day if needed.   • Conceptualise: Work as a team to develop a killer podcast idea. Let your imagination run wild!

  • Hands-On Production: Learn the ropes of podcast production and bring your ideas to life - from format and scripting to presenting and sound design. 

  • Studio Spotlight: Experience the buzz of being in a professional podcasting studio. It’s where you’ll record and edit your amazing creation.

  • Visualise the Sound: Design artwork that reflects the mood and tone of your audio.

  • Take it home: Together with your team mates, you’ll listen to your podcast, and then take it home the link to download it - so you can treasure it forever!
